Full Form of CMAT in Nepal is "Central Management Admission Test". 

Central Management Admission Test is popularly known as CMAT entrance exam is annually conducted by the Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University. The examination is generally held on the month of August / September after the announcement of Grade XII result. This exam is mandatory for those students who wish to pursue the following subjects of Tribhuvan University.

1.     Bachelor in Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM)

2.     Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

3.     Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)

4.     Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM)

5.     Bachelor of Information Management (BIM)

6.     Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies (BMS)

7.     Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA)

Universities have set aside certain guidelines for the students willing to prepare for CMAT and based on those guidelines our teams of teachers have created a significant curriculum and resources for students studying at Aakash Institute.

There shall be altogether one hundred (100) objective questions in the CMAT containing twenty (25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. Student must secure a minimum of 40% in the CMAT in order to qualify for the interview. No negative marking.

Mode of Examination

The CMAT entrance exam consists of both written exam and interview. 

Written Exam:

The 90 minutes CMAT exam consists of altogether one hundred (100) objective questions containing twenty (25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. The students must secure at least 40% to qualify for the examinations.


The colleges running the program also conduct the individual presentations and interviews for selecting suitable candidates. Applicants securing above cut off point marks in the CMAT will be short-listed. Then the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and selected for admission.

Merit List

Admissions will be strictly on the basis of merit list. The merit list is prepared on the basis of

  • 60% of marks secured in the CMAT Entrance examination for BBA, BBM, BPA & BIM And 50% for BHM, BTTM & BMS.
  • 30% of marks secured in percentage in plus two or equivalent; 
  • 10% Interview.
  • 10% Group Discussion for BHM, BTTM & BMS.

Who can apply?


  • Minimum D+ grade in each subject of grade 11 and 12 with CGPA 1.8 or more
  • Minimum score of second division marks in 10+2, PCL or Equivalent in any discipline.
  • Students who have passed grade 11 and are waiting for grade 12 results can also apply. However, they have to submit passed certificate of grade 12 at the time of admission.


From year 2018(2075), FOM (Faculty of Management) Tribhuvan University (TU) brought the policy of re-exam of CMAT for the students those who are unable to attain the CMAT exam and for those who are unable to pass the CMAT exam. The CMAT re-exam take place about one month after the main entrance exam.
